APPROXIMATELY 25,000 PEOPLE HIT STATEN ISLAND BEACHES AND WATERFRONT PARKS TO ENJOY STATEN ISLAND BEACH FEST INAUGURAL RUN
Staten Island, NY: Staten Island Beach Fest inaugural weekend launched with more than 25,000 people coming out to catch some rays, waterfront breezes, a dip in the ocean and plenty of music, food and fun for all ages.
Staten Island Beach Fest is an 8 weekend festival taking place simultaneously across five Staten Island beaches and waterfront parks with a goal of attracting residents and visitors to show off the improvements made following Super Storm Sandy.
Staten Island Beach Fest is presented by the Staten Island Yankees and produced by The Von Agency Public Relations. The following is a list of events which took place across Staten Island this weekend.
Pop-Up Car & Motorcycle Show took place at Midland Beach @ Veterans Memorial Parking Lot
It was presented by Staten Island Antique Automobile Club of America and Comedian Jen Remauro doled out an award for the “Best Ride”
NYC Street Fair presented by NYC Arts Cypher took place right outside Yankee Stadium on the Plaza and Pedestrian ramp. Free Events included: Assembyl 3D Printing – Printer Demonstration, Erin Kelli Artist
Cypher Cyndikit Break Dancing Demonstration, Lighthouse Museum – Children’s Art, Harbor Lights – Entertainment, Staten Island Advance – Make Your Own Beaded Bracelet.
Vendors included: Balarin Import Export Inc., Karen’s Crystals – Touchstone Jewelry, King and Queens Entertainment, Suzie Q Toys & More, Yoli Better Body System
Artist Elizabeth Sollazzo & Eric Mapp did some free style painting on Borough Hall Plaza while DJ H2o spun for the crowd. It was presented by the North Shore Business Association.
At South Beach, South Fin and NYC Arts Cypher presented a host of bands from the summer series: Holding Up Each Other’s Mics – bands included were: Mike Reina, Carmelo, Wiskey Serenade, Amped Up.
The YMCA held speed and agility clinics for children.
Vendors included: Magic Moon Sisters, Yoli Better Body System, Bonnie, FlowerChic Boutique and Bling and Thing.
Midland Beach at Turtle Circle was a full blown carnival with DJ Joe, free-giveaways , rides for children and more than 25 vendors selling food, t shirts, clothing, hats and jewelry.
Conference House Park offered free Yoga from You Can Do It Yoga.
Next week’s schedule of events include: 2pm Blueberry Pie Eating Competition for children 9-12 years of age at Midland Beach, plus DJ Golden Oldies all day plus vendors and rides.
South Beach will have DJ’s, beach games and vendors.
Staten Island Yankees/Richmond County Bank Ballpark Plaza and ramp will have an art show, DJ and dance competition.
Borough Hall Plaza will be transformed into a public outdoor seating area with entertainment and food trucks will be parked along Nick LaPorte Place.
The Pop-Up Car Show will take place each Sunday at 10 am at a new location in the parking lot at Midland Beach (Turtle Circle) at Father Capodanno and Jefferson Avenue.
There will also be visits from Knight Rider – Kit Car, Scooter the Holy Cow, Skate board demonstrations from 50/50 skate park, dance and acrobat exhibitions, music by Al Lambert – Top 40’s Through the Years and live broadcasts from radio stations.
